60’s NIGHT IN THE BARN

Our second major fund-raising event of the year is a 60’s Night and Barbecue which will take place at Dunstan Farm on Saturday on Saturday 19th June from 7.30 p.m. onwards.  After many years of running a Barn Dance, the organisers have decided to make a change for all those who were brought up in the 60’s (and their children/grandchildren!!), and who want to re-live the days of their youth.

The popular Stormbeats will be leading the dancing, supported by Rough Justice, which should make a great evening.

Tickets are available from 01777 816003 and are priced:

Adults: £13.00

Primary School children: £7.50

Special Family ticket (2 adults and 2 children) £37.00

There will be a licensed bar.

Barking Mad Dog Show - Sunday, 16th May 2010

ROGATION PROCESSION – MONDAY 10TH MAY AT 7.00 P.M.

Our annual Rogation Procession will take place at 7.00 p.m. on Monday 10th May, starting in church.  Assuming that we will enjoy good weather, the procession will move along High Street to the top of Beacon Hill, where prayers for the crops will be said, and there will be an opportunity to enjoy the excellent (we hope) views.  Afterwards there will be a simple supper served in the village hall, for which a small charge will be made on the night.  Please call 816003 to reserve a spot, so that we know how many to cater for.

FLOWERS FOR FOUR PARISHES
FRIDAY 14TH - SUNDAY 16TH MAY 2010

This year the event moves to Gringley-on –the-Hill and slightly earlier in the year
so that we do not clash with Parish events.   We have mixed flowers,
history, World War II and dogs together to make it a weekend to
remember; all the profit is divided between the four Churches. This year
we are very pleased to welcome Gringley Methodist Church on board - they
will have flowers, refreshments and stalls over the weekend.

FRIDAY 14TH MAY
Opening of Flower Festival by Very Rev. John Guille, Dean of Southwell.
Jean Townsend - a well known local historian will talk on "Henry VIII - Victim of
Villain" – in Gringley-on-the-Hill Church at 7.30 p.m. - Tickets £5.00 to include a
glass of wine and refreshments.

SATURDAY 15TH MAY
Flower Festival in Church and Methodist Church opens at 11.00 a.m. WWII
re-enactment, WWII vehicles, evacuees, home-made refreshments, face
painting, stalls, and nail painting

SUNDAY 16TH MAY
"Barking Mad"
Flower Festival, Home-made refreshments, Fun Dog Show, Dog Club
demonstrations.
10.30  a.m. onwards
6.30 p.m. - Songs of Praise in Church

Could we please ask that as many people as possible help - this is a
major fund raising event for the Churches and we need as many people as
possible to help, either by giving us an hour or two of their time,
bringing as many friends as possible along to help and/or by supporting
the stalls with donations. The village contacts are - Everton - Maureen
Boulby 817761, Mattersey - Lyndis Rowley 817965, Gringley - Sue Tallants
817668, Clayworth - Debbie Bruce 816782
Thanks you in anticipation
